A Marvelous Work

In many verses from the first sections of Doctrine and Covenanats, the Lord often says, “a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men” (D&C 4:1). This is a revelation of the coming forth of the Book of Mormon and the restoration of the gospel. I feel that the Lord prepares the Prophet Joseph Smith by reminding continuously of His marvelous work and the importance of maintaining himself a worthy, wise, and knowledgeable servant of God. There is a talk by Elder Madsen in the 2001 Ensign, and he states the purposes of the Lord for bringing the Book of Mormon. This included the people gaining a testimony about the Savior; that the Nephites might gain a knowledge of he Jesus Christ through their fathers and their knowledge be made known unto the lamanites; that the Lord may fulfill his promises which he has made to his people, his children, we. “And that the Lamanites might come to the knowledge of their fathers, and that they might know the promises of the Lord, and that they may believe the gospel and rely upon the merits of Jesus Christ, and be glorified through faith in his name, and that through their repentance they might be saved” (D&C 3:16–20). This marvelous work, The Book of Mormon, is the “key stone” of our religion. It confirms that “Jesus is the Christ, the prophet Joseph Smith is a true prophet, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is true,” Elder Madsen. In my personal life The Book of Mormon has made it known unto me my purpose and responsibility as a  daughter of God. I find it a blessing to learn about the trials that the women and their children faced while their spouses, the stripling warriors were out, battling to protect their families. I have seen that the trials I am facing now is striving to be different from the world and be more Christ-like. When the scriptures, D&C, testify of the marvelous work, it reveals the forth coming of the restoration of the gospel. Because of the gospel, the saints of the church, we, are able to receive the necessary tools, counsel, light, guidance, inspiration, etc. to  our goal of having eternal life with Heavenly Father. I have been a member of the church my whole life, and nothing else in this world has given me the true happiness and joy of life; the purpose of my being; my duty and role as woman; the values and virtues of our identity as children of God. The “marvelous work” of the Lord, is marvelous because it fills the physical and spiritual needs of our bodies completely. I have seen this marvelous work play a significant role in my family; it has brought my father, who was inactive for 25 years, come unto the light of Christ and save him from the lethal chains of the world. His return is a miracle to my mother, my two older brothers, and I, which testifies of the mercy and love of God for the ONE.
